The harness simply attaches to the item you want to carry and is usually used in two different configurations.

In the backpack configuration, an object is attached with two points, it could be a weapon system or a chainsaw. In this configuration, a coat or sweater can be transformed into a temporary backpack.

In the hanging configuration, an object is attached with one point at the top, this could be gas containers, water bottles, ammunition bags or a stretcher.

In most applications, the lanyards are usually attached directly to the object. To the sling points of a weapon system for example.
