TacVent - Ventilation for your safety vest to make those hot days a little more bearable.

It's summer and hot. You pull the shirt over your head that will separate you and your vest for the next 9-10 hours. You can already feel how hot it is, and the vest isn't even on yet.

You look at the vest and wonder why there is no cooling system or ventilation system for that bad boy yet. You hang it over your head and tighten the Velcro. Now it's tight, good, and warm...

The workday starts with running after someone who doesn't stop when asked, and then you stand in the sun for a while. Sweat runs down your back and you grab the protective vest under your chin and try to get some cool air... What if there was... something!

What if you would NEVER AGAIN have to experience the above in the same way as before?

TacVent ventilation panels are the solution!
You attach the plates to the inside of the vest. When you now put on the vest, the ventilation plates sit as a layer between your undershirt and the protective vest. Where previously there was nothing, there is now a 10 mm air gap where air can move and transport away the heat that previously only accumulated.

The result is noticeable!

When tested on a stationary doll, TacVent provides a temperature reduction of about 10°C compared to a doll without TacVent. When you are in motion, the air will also be pumped around thanks to your movement, which in turn provides even better air exchange and thus removal of heat and moisture.

For best results, use one plate for the front and one for the back. If you are considering only one TacVent, place it advantageously on the front, leaving the back without a TacVent.

Note that there is no built-in fan or equivalent, but the technology is based on increased air circulation thanks to the distance created between the protective vest and the body.

TacVent protects against trauma if you are shot and hit.

TacVent not only protects against heat. If you were to be shot and hit, TacVent protects against much of the blunt force trauma that body armor creates. TacVent distributes energy very efficiently and the energy that hits your body is significantly less concentrated than if you were not wearing TacVent.

How TacVent became a reality

In 2003, SWAT Team Sgt. Jeff Shelton and his crew conducted a raid on an Air Force base in the United States against a shooter. After a few hours of wearing the heavy equipment, the perpetrator was apprehended.

What they didn't know was whether or not there were more perpetrators, so they had to continue the search for several more hours. The heat caused the crew to become dehydrated and sweat a lot.

After the raid, Jeff began to think about what could be done to improve the comfort of carrying the heavy equipment used by police officers. His conclusion was that he would try to develop a ventilation solution for the body armor in order to cool down the body.

The result was the TacVent!

The longitudinal channels of the rubber plates, together with the small holes, allow sweat/moisture to be transported away, resulting in a much more comfortable feeling.

The TacVent panels are sold individually (1 piece) & comes with 4 Velcro stickers/panel.

How to customize TacVent for your safety vest?

The shape of the panels can easily be adapted to your needs.

1. Place your safety vest on a flat surface with the part that rests against your body facing upwards.

2. Place your TacVent on the vest to fit where it will be attached. Make sure the TacVent panel goes all the way up to the edge of the vest. If possible, leave the TacVent panel 0.5 cm above the top edge of the vest. Air must be able to flow out and not stop at the top edge of the vest.

3. Remove the protective paper for the strong adhesive attachment points.

4. Place the TacVent on the vest and apply pressure to secure it.

5. Now cut the outline of the panel to fit the vest. Make sure not to cut so that the TacVent panel goes below the top edge of the vest as this will prevent the warm air from escaping.

To clean the panel, wipe it with a damp cloth.
When washing the protective vest case, the Velcro patches may come off. These are sold separately as spare parts.

(The panel should not be washed in a washing machine or hang-dried).
