Tormek DBS-22 Jig for drill sharpening
With Tormek's patented DBS-22 Drill Sharpening Jig you can sharpen your drills from 3 to 22 mm diameter with the highest precision and to a four facet tip for best performance. The optimal tip and release angle can be set for each drilling job, taking into account the drill size and material. You can also grind broken drills to a perfect shape again.
Why the DBS-22 Drill Grinding Jig?
- Grinds a four-facet tip that drills more efficiently and lasts longer.
- Grinds drill bits with very high precision.
- Gives the bit more than four times longer life than traditional S-tip bits.
- Works best with Tormek T-8 and older models.
Four-facet tip that lasts better
With the patented DBS-22 Drill Sharpening Jig, you can create a four-facet tip that provides very good cutting properties because the cross cut of the drill bit has a point instead of being almost flat, like on many other drills. A four-facet tip does not wander and requires significantly less drilling pressure compared to a conventional cone tip.
A precision-ground, four-facet tip also produces less heat generation, giving the drill a very long service life. Independent tests show that Tormek sharpened drills last more than four times longer than new conventional drills¹.
¹ Uddeholm Tooling AB 2010. The test involved drilling 15 mm deep holes in a case-hardening steel with a 6 mm drill bit. With a speed of 1326 rpm and 0.15 mm feed per revolution, the Tormek-ground drills held an average of 327 holes while the new s-tip drills held 72 holes.
Controlled grinding
Working with the laws of nature and cooling the edge continuously eliminates the risk of the steel overheating and losing its temper or micro-cracking. You have full control at all times and can see the progress of the sharpening process. For smaller drills, a loupe is included to help you line up the drill in the jig and see the result of the grinding.
